Terminal Area
Port and harbor facilities are being upgraded to handle higher container freight
tonnage and larger vessels: 24-hour port services, a state-of-the-art container
terminal and 15-meter deepwater berths.
Port&Harbor Facilities
Land is already being provided to distribution firms utilizing the port and
harbor facilities, via public recruiting. This advanced logistics zone will
handle not only storage and distribution, but also import/export, processing,
exhibition and sales.
Industrial Zone
In addition to metropolitan manufacturing industries, taking advantage of the
proximity of consumer markets, the land is also being utilized for sophisticated
port and harbor function, new industries and R&D activities.
New Industries and Research and development Zone
A center for a variety of new industries is being developed, including international
and Asian business, advanced medial care and welfare, information technology,
and robotics.
Residential Zone
This new residential area will be home to some 18,000 people. A community incorporating
nature and the environment will be created, promoting the use of natural energy
and working to minimize energy consumption, and providing a place where people
can live secure lives regardless of age or nationality.
Multipurpose Zone
Situated between the residential zone and the industrial and research zone,
this area is centered on the railway station as a lively area including workplaces,
residences, greenery and parks. In addition to commercial and business facilities,
it will also feature residences for the elderly incorporating medical and welfare
functions.
Environment-friendly Zone
The wild bird reserve facing out over the precious Wajiro Tidal Flats is home
to many wild birds. It becomes an amicable reserve having greenery and water
with the green belt around it. Discussion is under way on the possibility of
establishment environmental science facilities here for resident exchanges
on the environment and to perform research.
